Pessah

Normally comes   - April
In 2005 -  24th April (Sunday)
Cause  -    Auspicious Time

This is the most important festival for jews, which is celebrated over eight days, in the month of Nisan. During this festival the jews commemorate the escape of their forebears from Egypt in 13 century BC. During the eight day festival, all forms of leaves are prohibited in the house. On the eve of the festival, a thorough search is made to rid the house of the smallest morsel of yeast. It any is found, it is kept aside & burnt the following morning.


Purim

Normally comes   - March
In 2005 -  25th March (Friday)
Cause  -    Auspicious Time

It is observed on the 14th day of the month of adar. It is in the memory of first recorded victory of Jew community over antisemitism. The festival starts with a fast on previous day. Next day Adult & Children attend the ceremony in fancy, dress. They exchange food parcels with relatives, friends & neighbors
