Mahavir Jayanti

Mahavirs birthday is celebrated as Mahavir Jayanti. It is celebrated on the first day of the month & Bhadrapad. On this day Mahaviras followers recall his teachings & try to adhere to them. He recommended four donations for jains, food, medicines, equipment, dispersing knowledge by giving  & protecting people from any bad deeds they might commit. On his birth anniversary, every jain resolves to follow his teachings.


Mahamastak Abhishek

This ceremony takes places once every 12 years. This festival is celebrated is Shrawan Belgola Karnataka, India to pay homage to 18- meter high statue of Bahubali. A no. of welfare projects are initiated during the Mahamastak Abhishek. Most of them are expected to center permanent benefits to the local people. Millions of devotees converge to Shravan Belgola for the occasion. Observed regularly since the installation of statue in 981 AD, the last anointing was on December 19, 1993.
